15 Subtle Habits That Prove Your Partner Loves You
You probably know that love comes in all shapes and forms. Not everyone expresses their feelings by repeatedly saying “I love you.” Instead, some people express their emotions through small, subtle actions that often go unnoticed. With insight from therapist Jeff Guenther, we wanted to look at the ways your partner may be showing you how much they care without ever actually saying it out loud. Spotting these caring gestures may help open your eyes to just how cherished you are every single day. Love is all in the details! You just need to know where to look!

They Always Ask How Your Day Was

Jeff Guenther says that even if your partner spent all day watching you work from home and knows your every move from today, asking anyway is a sign that they really love and care about you. Think of it this way: they could spare themselves the time, given they already know how your day was, but they still care enough to ask you how it was from your perspective and gain insight into how you’re feeling now or how you felt about the day in general.
They Indulge In Your Favorite Shows (Even If They Hate Them)

Most of us have shows or movies that we love watching together with our partners. But Jeff reminds us that when our partner sits through countless episodes and seasons of a show they just can’t stand, they probably truly love us. They suffer hours of content that does not appease them in any way, just because it makes you happy to have them next to you while you watch, and that feeling of pleasing you is enough for them to stay and watch.
They Want To Grow In The Relationship With You

If your partner is always suggesting ways to grow together in the relationship, it’s probably a sign that they really love you. Jeff Guenther gives an example of a partner wanting to download relationship apps that are designed to strengthen the connection and develop intimacy and a strong foundation. Still, there are other ways your partner might show you that they want to continue growing together with you. Whether it’s downloading a partner app, wanting to eat healthy, or being active together, it’s likely a sign of love.
They Give You Massages Without Asking

Jeff is sure to point out that this isn’t the same as the “If I massage you, will you massage me?” deal. He says that real love is your partner wanting to massage you (with no expectation in return) just because. Maybe they know you’re sore and have had a long day, and they genuinely want to express their love to you by offering to make you more comfortable and take some of the pressure off of you. It’s small, but it’s an overlooked sign of love.
They Compliment You In Ways No One Else Does

When compliments from your partner are very specific and make you feel like no other compliments do, it could be a sign that they really love you. Your partner sees you in ways most people don’t, and when you really love someone, you notice even the most minor details about them and come to love those little details. So, it’s no wonder Jeff mentions this as a sign you might overlook that your partner really loves you because now they want you to see yourself through their eyes.
They Share Memes With You All Day

We live in a time where sharing memes and reels is a part of our daily culture and how we express ourselves, and it’s no different when it comes to our relationships. When your partner sees something interesting or funny on the internet and wants to share that with you all day long, they want you to share in their joy and experiences, and that is love! And as Jeff Guenther says, the memes aren’t going to send themselves.
They Bring You Things You Need Or Like Without Asking

Most of us can agree that love is being thought of even when you’re not around. As Jeff mentions, you can tell your partner really loves you when they’re out and about and see something they know you need or like, and so they grab it for you. It could be paper towels that you mentioned you were out of over the phone, your favorite candy they saw in the checkout line, or a surprise gift “just because.” Either way, it’s easy to overlook this small act of care from your partner, but it shows they really love you.
They Remember Little Details

In a relationship with someone, there’s a first for almost everything, even the first time you cooked for them or the first time you met their dog, as Jeff humorously reminds us. When your partner really loves you, these little details and anniversaries of “firsts” can be seared into their brain and memory, and they take a lot of joy in celebrating them with you because it’s a reminder of the milestones your love keeps enduring together.
They Are Very Tolerant Of The People In Your Life

Jeff gives us a very good example of a partner really showing they love you with this point. Most of us have a friend or family member who can be hard to deal with. A romantic partner often won’t entertain or put up with that person, even if we want to keep them in our lives. If your partner is always biting the bullet, being the bigger person, and showing patience when your friends or family are rude or intolerant, it’s a sign that they really love and care about you.
They Show Interest & Effort In Your Hobbies

You won’t always have a partner who has the exact same interests and hobbies as you do, and that’s okay. But a sign of your partner’s love (that you might be overlooking) is when they genuinely want to show interest in the things that interest you. This is their way of getting closer to you and getting to know you better by sharing your fun and joyful experiences and emotions. They really love you when they want to participate in your hobbies with you (especially if they’re weird hobbies, as Jeff says).
They Try To Make Your Life Easier

In my opinion, if your partner goes out of their way to try to make your life a little easier, it’s probably a display of their love for you. This can look like setting clothes out for you while you’re showering or having your favorite meal ready after you get home from a long day of work. These small little acts let you know they’re thinking about you and want to be a step ahead of you and help make your life easier in any way. It’s easy to overlook, but it’s a sign they really love you.
Your Mood Affects Their Mood

This last sign is one I’ve noticed personally. If you’ve ever noticed them becoming more cheerful when you’re happy or more concerned when you’re feeling down, it reflects their emotional investment in you. The level of love and care they have for you means they are worried about how you’re feeling or what you’re going through. They might try to be playful or supportive because they understand your happiness affects their own. It shows how intertwined you have become.
They Talk About the Future

When you spouse talks about the future and you are included in those plans, it is a sure sign of their love. They wouldn’t be thinking about vacations, retirement and future dinner dates if they didn’t love you and want you to stick around. If you are part of your spouses future plans, you don’t have to worry much about if they love you or not- they clearly do!
They Prepare Your Food

Cooking is a true act of love. When you cook for someone, you are not only giving them something to enjoy, but you are helping to nourish their body. Cooking a good meal also takes a lot of time and preparation! When your spouse cooks you a meal, it shows that they care about your happiness and your health. They are willing to devote time to make sure you enjoy every bite of your delicious meal. Appreciate your chef spouse as they are surely adding some extra love into every dish!
They Take Care of You

If your spouse brings your chicken soup when you are sick, turns the heat up on chilly days to keep you warm, and asks how you are feeling on a regular basis, it is a sure sign that they are in love. A spouse who is attentive and nurturing is one who truly wants to make sure you are cared for. They want you to be happy, healthy, and feel your best! Genuinely caring for someone has to come from the heart, and those thoughtful little gestures show just how much they value and cherish you.
